Well, in view of the snowey weather outside, Vata is higher than normal, creating Rajas (disturbance). When rajas is high, it is best to streamline the agitation so the energy does not disperse into some form of procrastination, but transformed into something more useful.
So here I am, Welcome
to Marie's Blog on Ayurveda and Yoga.
In simple language, my aim is to pass on what understanding I have of my two passion's, Life (Ayur) itself and the knowledge to be gained in studying it,(Veda) and about Yoga, the endless possibilities of Unity.
Please do understand, what is written is only my understanding, and more than likely has a hint of my perspective and past conditioning. If I can bring any amount of information and light into the subjects brought up, then that is most of my job well done.
So I begin with a simple subject on the guna's:
In simple terms there are three guna's or attributes to be most concerned with in all of Life and sub guna's fall between these three.
First there is Sattva, Harmony, balance, which we all seek to find throughout our life.
Second is Rajas, disturbance, agitation, which moves things around, and is a necassary component to keep life in balance.
Third is Tamas, inertia, resistance, which holds things in state, and can be difficult to shift if Rajas is too low.
In Cork today we are having our second day of schools closed due to snow and ice.
The guna's are in constant view through life, but weather conditions display them most easily.
In Ireland, with snow and ice you have alot of Rajas or disturbance as the temperature and wind chill factor fluxes and changes.
As the freeze sets in, inertia, Tamas, takes hold and prevents excess Rajas. There is not much movement in temperature, until the wind blows or rain comes....
Inbetween this tug of war of energy between Tamas and Rajas, there is momentary Sattva...
Glimpses of nature in balance with the present moment, all is Peaceful in the Winter scene, fleeting balance, but balance all the same.
The play of the Guna's is constant and inescapable, but if you take the time to watch, it holds great interest for all the senses.
